Marion‘s economy is built to last, especially in the manufacturing and data services sectors. The city, situated along Iowa’s seven-county Creative Corridor, houses a wide range of advanced manufacturing companies, from small, family-owned supplier businesses to Fortune 500 companies that do business around the globe. 

The City of Marion, the Marion Chamber of Commerce, Uptown Marion and the Marion Economic Development Company (MEDCO) all work together to make Marion business-friendly and attractive to innovators. The following companies help give Marion its manufacturing strength:

Barnes Manufacturing

Barnes Manufacturing is a leader in the design, engineering and manufacture of customized metal fabricated products used by large industrial firms. The skilled employees at Barnes use lathes and mills to help with product prototyping, the manufacturing of obsolete parts and the assembly of parts.

Timberline Manufacturing

Founded in 1993, Timberline Manufacturing Co. provides electrical contract manufacturing with a specialization in wire harness assembly, control panels and circuit board assembly for clients in a variety of industries. Timberline has 150 employees and guarantees its finished products delivered to customers in under three days.

Legacy Manufacturing

A long-standing company is Legacy Manufacturing, which produces lightweight, user-friendly air hoses and garden hoses constructed with materials that won’t kink under pressure. The Legacy product lineup also includes blow guns, grease guns and color-coded couplers for air hoses. The company has more than 60 employees.

Marion Process Solutions

A leading manufacturer of mixing and blending equipment for residential, commercial and industrial use is Marion Process Solutions, which has received several accolades globally for its product innovation. Fabricators and machinists build every food mixer from scratch at the Marion assembly plant. The company’s client list includes Dow, General Mills, Keurig, Quaker and many more.

Rockwell Collins

Although based in nearby Cedar Rapids, one of every six Marion households has someone who works at Rockwell Collins. The company develops innovative aviation and IT solutions for both commercial and military applications. Rockwell Collins aircraft electronics are installed in the cockpits of nearly every major airliner in the world.

ESCO Group

ESCO Group, which is in its third generation of ownership, provides plant automation, electrical construction, power engineering, professional recruiting, and safety training for a wide variety of clients. It has been headquartered in Marion for more than 45 years but has other locations in Iowa and Colorado.
