East Central Indiana is a region full of opportunity. Comprising nine counties collaborating in both business and recreational activities, the region is drawing national corporations while still being a great place for small-business owners.

There is a range of living options, whether your vibe is urban, suburban or rural – and the housing is downright affordable. Commute times are practically nonexistent, yet the area is within a day’s drive of many major metropolitan areas.

The nine counties that make up the East Central Indiana region – Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Grant, Henry, Jay, Randolph, Rush and Wayne – all offer a place to discover and play out your passions. Locals love that people of all ages have the opportunity to be involved in the community, and the fact that they have easy access to amenities, from events to outdoor recreation.

2) The local economy is diverse

East Central Indiana is becoming a hub for big business, bringing millions of investment dollars to the region.

There are 25 international companies from nine countries, and health care and social assistance together employ some 27,000 locals. Beginning with the Indiana Gas Boom of the 1890s, the area has morphed from small agricultural communities to bustling cities with industry sectors that include manufacturing, food processing, logistics, education and several others.

The region’s cost of living is 12% lower than the national average with a median house price of just $96,141.

East Central Indiana is, well, central. It’s within a day’s drive of 60% of the U.S. population, with four major airports an easy drive away. Regionally, the average commute time for residents is 22 minutes (compare that to living in nearby big cities like Indianapolis, Chicago or Cincinnati!) and that’s not only to work: Traveling times are short when you’re looking to hit some of the area attractions, too.
