For an immersion into Muskegon’s vibrant cultural heritage, check out some of the area’s annual festivals. From polka dance to Irish dance, these festivals highlight the vibrant culture of local residents while providing a fun experience for all.

Michigan Irish Music Festival

For four days in September, residents can experience the sights and sounds of Irish culture on the shores of Muskegon Lake at the Michigan Irish Music Festival. With a lively Pub Preview Party on Thursday, the festival continues through the weekend with Irish food, dance and, of course, music. Performers bring a wide range of Celtic tunes, from traditional folk music to contemporary rock that can be heard across Heritage Landing’s six covered stages throughout the festival.

Muskegon County Latino Festival

Initiated by Latinos Working for the Future (LWFTF), this annual fall festival at Hackley Park celebrates the variety of Latin American cultures represented in the Muskegon community. From handmade artisan goods and Latin American food to traditional dance and music performances, the festival invites everyone to join in on the fun. The festival is also a fundraiser that allows LWFTF to pay for educational and cultural efforts.

Muskegon Polish Festival

On Labor Day weekend, Muskegon celebrates its Polish community with the Muskegon Polish Festival at Hackley Park. The event also educates the community with fascinating facts about Polish history and culture. The festival includes polka dance, Polish food and drinks as well as displays of clothing and ancient military rites.
