Environmental Obligation

DENSO Manufacturing, a global automotive components manufacturer, employs more than 4,150 people at its Maryville location. DENSO’s product and technology developments, partnerships, and other actions and achievements continue to be guided by the company’s Two Great Causes: Green — achieving carbon neutrality by 2035 — and Peace of Mind — creating a safe and seamless world for all.

The company’s single-largest manufacturing facility is located in Blount County and leads the way in environmental sustainability. Recently, the company installed multiple electric vehicle chargers across campus for employees to use. Each charging station has solar tracking capability, allowing reorienting to follow the sun throughout the day to maximize exposure.

DENSO also recently announced that one of four solar power plants would be built on its property in Maryville as a part of TVA’s Generation Flexibility Program. When complete, coupled with energy conservation success, 100% of the electrical requirements for DENSO in Maryville will be supplied with renewable energy — a hallmark for the company.

Steps like these, both big and small, are moving DENSO closer to reaching the ultimate goal of being carbon neutral by 2035. This is an attractive concept for millennials and Gen Zers looking to work for places that are putting forth green practices.
