The Advantage Valley region knows how to throw good parties. Here’s just a small sample of the festivals in Charleston, WV, and around the Advantage Valley that are ideal for artists and those who love art.

Charleston hosts FestivALL where “A City Becomes a Work of Art.” The 10-day annual June event attracts about 30,000 attendees and provides a $2 million economic impact on the community each year.

And if you need even more art experiences following your attendance at the FestivALL, Charleston also welcomes a FestivFALL every October. FestivFALL features 40 indoor and outdoor venues that host 300 performances and exhibitions showcasing music, theater, dance, visual art and the humanities.

Near Ripley in Jackson County is the annual Mountain State Art & Craft Fair, known for shining a light on Appalachian art, culture, music and cuisine. Held on the grounds of Cedar Lakes Conference Center, the event occurs for three days in late June/early July. In 2023, attendees celebrated the 60th anniversary of the art and craft show.

Since 1977, the Vandalia Gathering has been hosted in Charleston, and it usually occurs for three days in the West Virginia Capitol Complex & Culture Center during the early summer. More than 30 juried artisans showcase their craft. Other highlights include musical competitions, a baking contest, a Liars Storytelling Contest, food vendors and a kids zone.
