Farm Fun: 8 Robertson County Farms To Visit With the Family

Thanks to the rich history and prevalence of farming in the area, Robertson County offers bushels of agritourism experiences families will love. From farm-fresh markets to U-pick opportunities, here are eight Robertson County farms where you can get down and dirty. 

1. Hancock Family Farm in Springfield

Family is built into the very name of Springfield’s Hancock Family Farm, which has been tended by the same lineage for over a century. Stop by the market any time of year to find seasonal fruits, veggies, beef, pork, flowers, dairy, eggs, baked goods, and canned jams, jellies and salsas. 

2. Shade Tree Farm and Orchard in Adams

Shade Tree Farm and Orchard in Adams is the perfect spot to pick your own summer blueberries or autumn apples. It also stands out for its variety of fun events, like a murder mystery dinner among the trees, as well as its playful Toe Jam (made of tangerines, oranges and elderberries), Frog Jam (figs, raspberries, oranges and ginger) and Monkey Butter (mangoes, bananas and pineapples). 

3. Red River Farms in Springfield

Springfield’s Red River Farms hosts plenty of weddings on its 70 acres, but it’s also known for its annual Sunflower Festival in July, where guests can shop at over 60 vendors, take selfies in a field of stunning golden blooms and even hop on a helicopter for aerial views of the flowers. 

4. Bernard Farms in Orlinda

In Orlinda, Bernard Farms has been family-owned for four generations. The owners raise and process their own hogs and cattle, selling cuts of meat (along with house-made biscuits, sandwiches, produce, seasonal goodies, ice cream and more) at their farm store that’s open six days a week. Stay abreast of the shop’s Facebook page for its most up-to-date offerings. 

5. Head’s Farm store in Cedar Hill

Head’s Farm store in Cedar Hill looks like Grandma’s attic, with shelves full of knickknacks, goodies, garden products, jams and jellies. Visit in spring months for “u-pick” strawberries, and in the fall for pumpkins and a Fall Festival. Additional offerings include seasonal house-made ice cream flavors, on-site picnic tables and fresh produce for sale. 

6. Honeysuckle Hill Farm in Springfield

Half farm, half amusement park, Honeysuckle Hill Farm offers fields where guests can harvest their own flowers and pumpkins, along with a bevy of attractions. Check out pig races, fireworks, a zipline, a tree house, carnival rides like the Berry-Go-Round, and the annual Fall Festival on 200 acres in Springfield. 

7. White House Pumpkin Patch

White House Pumpkin Patch has one mission and one mission only: to make sure all visitors come away with as many decorative gourds as they can carry. The spot boasts a petting zoo, corn mazes, hayrides and carnival games, plus autumnal decorations and flowers for sale. It even offers a fall decorating service for homes and businesses. 

8. Fiddle Dee Farms in Greenbrier

Greenbrier’s Fiddle Dee Farms hosts weddings and other private events in The Barn at Fiddle Dee Farms, a spectacular, sprawling venue located on over 50 acres. Other on-site events throughout the year include Shuckle’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch in the fall, an annual Christmas variety and dinner theater show, and monthly Christian worship choir rehearsals.
