New Mexico Attracts New Businesses, Fueling Big Expansions

Cinematic production, clean power generation and global chile pepper distribution are just a few of the diverse and growing industries taking root and expanding across New Mexico’s flourishing economy. 

Kairos Power 

A clean energy technology, engineering and manufacturing company, Kairos Power is expanding its operations to build three facilities and create 100 jobs in the state. 

Kairos Power will construct a salt production facility to produce high-purity molten salt coolant for advanced reactors at the company’s Albuquerque campus. It will also develop a lab to optimize fuel manufacturing for a new space at Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Low-Enriched Fuel Fabrication Facility. The project will generate an estimated economic impact of up to $478 million over the next decade. 

BorderPlex Digital 

BorderPlex Digital’s first integrated Digital Infrastructure Campus will be constructed in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. The campus integrates power and water infrastructure with advanced manufacturing, logistics and data center facilities. The investment will grow vital infrastructure systems to support global trade along the international border, bringing 1,000 jobs to New Mexico. 

Louisiana Pepper Exchange 

A global chile pepper company that mastered logistical innovations to market puree is expanding to the Santa Teresa Borderplex. New Orleans-based Louisiana Pepper Exchange has purchased a 10-acre site in the Ironhorse Industrial Park, which provides strategic transportation advantages in processing pepper imports from Mexico and Central America and readies the company to cultivate relationships with growers in the state. 

thyssenkrupp Materials NA 

thyssenkrupp Materials NA is expanding its operations with a new facility in Santa Teresa. This investment strengthens its ability to serve power distribution customers across North America and Mexico. 

The New Mexico Economic Development Department is providing economic incentives to help fuel job growth and workforce development. The state pledged $500,000 from the Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) job-creation fund to assist in the expansion, which will create about 90 jobs. 

NewBridge Global Ventures 

Agricultural technology company NewBridge Global Ventures plans a major expansion in the Estancia Valley to grow and integrate its farming, processing, manufacturing and distribution businesses centered around hemp and CBD. 

The company uses a patented technology to process fresh biomass and extract components directly on the farm where the crop is grown. 

Cinelease 

Cinelease Studios will invest $95 million in New Mexico, adding five soundstages and two ancillary buildings, doubling its current space in Albuquerque. The company offers production spaces and services with expert support in film-friendly cities throughout North America. Cinelease has a portfolio of 42 soundstages across six states. 

NMexus Center 

A first-of-its-kind global business accelerator and commercialization center, the NMexus Center will equip global companies with the tools, knowledge and networks to expand operations into New Mexico and the U.S. 

The NMexus Center is expected to generate nearly 100 jobs in its first year and as many as 1,500 jobs within five years.
