BMW Performance Driving Schools offer a range of programs to help drivers of all skill levels build confidence.

Tucked away in Greer, just minutes from the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, is one of South Carolina’s most unexpected attractions.

The BMW Performance Driving School combines the thrill of getting behind the wheel with practical skills that can make you a better, more confident driver. Through timed challenges, vehicle control exercises and other hands-on experiences, participants learn how to respond when the unexpected happens on the road – all while having an unforgettable day behind the wheel.

BMW Performance Driving School offers one of the most unique experiences in the Upstate.

One of only two BMW Performance Driving Schools in the country, it welcomes drivers of all experience levels for hands-on instruction.

“People think you need to own a BMW to come here, but you don’t,” says Daniel Gubitosa, director of the BMW Performance Driving Schools in the U.S. “This is for everyone. Whether you’re experienced or a novice, there’s always something new to learn.”

“We’re not teaching people how to drive,” says Matt Mullins, chief driving instructor. “We’re teaching people how to drive better.”

That philosophy shapes every program, with an emphasis on learning by doing.

BMW Performance Driving Schools instructors offer extensive high-performance driving experience.

“People are surprised by how much seat time they get,” Gubitosa says. “After a brief classroom session, most of the experience is on the course. People leave saying they drove more and learned more than expected.”

Guiding that time behind the wheel are instructors with extensive high performance driving experience. Many, including Mullins, come from professional racing or motorsports backgrounds and bring that expertise to drivers at every level. Programs range from experiences for teens building confidence behind the wheel to advanced instruction for enthusiasts looking to refine their skills. Motorcycle riders can also choose from on-road and off-road training experiences.

The goal is to give drivers a chance to practice challenging situations in a controlled environment so they’re better prepared when the unexpected happens.

“If you spin a car on the road, that’s serious,” Mullins says. “On our skid pad, we expect it. We help you understand what happened, correct it and gain the confidence to respond.”

Companies also use the BMW Performance Driving School for client entertainment, leadership retreats, incentive programs and team-building events.

The experience extends beyond individual drivers. Companies also use the BMW Performance Driving School for client entertainment, leadership retreats, incentive programs and team-building events, combining meeting space with time behind the wheel. For groups looking to move beyond the traditional conference room, it offers a more interactive way to bring people together.

“There really isn’t another place like it,” Gubitosa says. “You can have a lot of fun and leave with skills that make you a better driver every time you get on the road.”
