Where Is the Robins Region?

Situated south of Macon and Atlanta, the Robins Region comprises Houston County, most of Peach County and the southern portion of Bibb County. It’s considered the part of Middle Georgia that’s closest to Robins Air Force Base. By car, the Robins Region is approximately two to three hours from Atlanta, one to two hours from Columbus, and two to three hours from Augusta. If you’re wanting to fly somewhere, there are the Middle Georgia Regional Airport and Perry-Houston County Airport close by.

What’s the Cost of Living?

For those thinking about moving to Warner Robins and the Robins Region, cost of living is one of the biggest perks of living here, as the numbers simply do not lie. On average, the overall cost of living in cities like Perry, Centerville and Warner Robins is 17.6% lower than the national average and 12.8% lower than the state average. There’s a wide range of industries and employers in this region, though the Robins Air Force Base is by far the largest employer. After the base, there are major opportunities in education, health care, manufacturing and packaging, government and aerospace technology. Other top employers include Perdue, Frito-Lay and Northrop Grumman, to name a few.

Yes! There are actually five colleges and universities within or near to the Robins Region: Middle Georgia State University, Georgia Military College, Central Georgia Technical College, Mercer University and Fort Valley State University. Each of these institutions has specialized programs and accolades, so finding one that suits your area of interest and career goals should be a cinch.

What’s the Weather Like Throughout the Year?

Weather in the Robins Region is typically Southern – mild winters with highs in the mid-50s and lows in the mid-30s with very little chance of snow, and summers that are relatively hot, with highs typically in the 90s. Spring and fall offer nice transitions, with a fair amount of rain in the spring and the occasional thunderstorm. This part of the country is ideal for those who don’t enjoy scraping snow off their windows and love all the outdoor recreation that good weather and sunshine provide.
