1. Pottery Alley

Tap into your crafty side at Pottery Alley in Lafayette, LA, a community clay studio. Welcoming artists of all ages and skill levels, this hands-on destination offers everything from three-hour introductory courses to comprehensive monthly classes in wheel throwing and hand-building techniques, like slab work, coil building and sculpture. 2. The Bougie Bar

Get more in touch with your creative side at The Bougie Bar (named for the Parisian French word “bougie,” which means “candle”), a candle-making studio in Lafayette. Teams compete against one another using gel blasters that shoot at one-third the speed of a paintball gun, using a material that lessens the impact. It’s less painful and easier to clean than the alternatives.

5. All the Rage

The space also has a “splatter room” and an ax-throwing section, where paint and axes fly.

6. Sky Craft

Looking for activities in the Lafayette, LA, area that aren’t like regular fitness classes? Try something completely different at Sky Craft, an aerial arts studio in Lafayette. Here, you can experience movement in a new and exciting way, using the beautiful, flowing fabric from the ceiling to propel yourself both on and off the ground. It’s guided by expert instructors, of course! These classes will challenge you physically, help you build strength and increase your flexibility.

“We’re more than just aerial arts; we also do circus art,” says Rachel Adams, co-owner and instructor.

8. Parish Brewing

Get a behind-the-scenes peek at how Parish Brewing makes its epic brews by taking a tour of the facility. Tours are free and take place on Saturday afternoons. Afterward, spend time sampling flights in Parish’s artsy, colorful taproom. Of course, you’ll be able to decide for yourself what your favorite brew is, but a must-sample is Ghost in the Machine, a hazy double IPA that’s a fan favorite.

9. Fleurish Forever

One of the best activities to try in the Lafayette, LA, area is Cajun or zydeco dancing, as these styles are largely part of the region’s culture.

Moriah Hargrave, owner of Fleurish Forever, offers group and private lessons in many different styles of Cajun and zydeco dances at the West Village Athletic Club in Scott.

“I teach very traditional Cajun dancing and not-so-traditional zydeco dancing,” Hargrave says. “The people who take my classes end up finding community, having a lot of fun and learning more and more.”
