The Country Club District is one of Kansas City’s most iconic and established residential areas, known for its cohesive planning, tree-lined streets, and distinctive early 20th-century architecture. Developed as one of the nation’s first master-planned communities, the district features a collection of neighborhoods connected by landscaped boulevards and nearby green spaces like Loose Park. 

At the heart of the area is the Country Club Plaza, a Spanish-inspired shopping and dining destination that anchors daily life with locally rooted restaurants, boutiques, and cultural landmarks. Brookside is one of Kansas City’s most established and recognizable neighborhoods. Located just south of the Country Club Plaza, the area features tree-lined streets and homes built primarily in the early 20th century.

Hyde Park is one of Kansas City’s oldest residential neighborhoods, located in Midtown near Gillham Road and Armour Boulevard. The neighborhood features historic homes, apartment buildings, and preserved mansions that reflect early 20th-century architecture.

River Market sits along the Missouri River just north of downtown and combines historic warehouses with modern residential lofts and apartments. The district is home to the City Market, a long-running public market featuring produce vendors, restaurants, and specialty shops.

The KC Streetcar runs through River Market and connects the area to downtown Kansas City and Union Station, making it one of the city’s most accessible and walkable neighborhoods.

Volker is a historic neighborhood located west of Midtown near Roanoke Park and the University of Kansas Medical Center. The neighborhood features early 20th-century homes, mature trees, and a strong residential character.

Its central location provides convenient access to downtown Kansas City and nearby commercial districts.

Located south of Brookside along Wornall Road, Waldo has evolved from a streetcar suburb into a lively residential district known for its active local business corridor. The neighborhood features a mix of mid-century homes, bungalows, and smaller commercial areas.

The Waldo business district hosts restaurants, coffee shops, and neighborhood events throughout the year. Its location provides relatively easy access to downtown Kansas City while maintaining a distinct neighborhood identity.

Westport is one of Kansas City’s oldest districts and remains one of the city’s most vibrant entertainment neighborhoods. Located near the Country Club Plaza and the University of Kansas Medical Center, Westport includes historic buildings, restaurants, and nightlife venues.

The neighborhood also includes residential streets and apartments located within walking distance of the district’s commercial areas.
