Beautiful scenery is an abundant asset in Greenville, a city that embraces walkability and ample green space. Residents (and visitors) have a number of nice neighborhoods to choose from, and here are some highlights:

Downtown Greenville

Greenville has focused on a major revitalization of its downtown district in recent years, including multiple upgrades along Main Street. The district is pedestrian friendly, and scenic attractions include pocket parks, diverse restaurants, art sculptures and a Liberty Bridge at Falls Park that provides people with a great view of 30-foot waterfalls below.

Augusta Road Area

Nicknamed “The 05” for the last two digits of its zip code, Augusta Road Area has a number of residential neighborhoods along with a distinct centralized shopping district with more than 75 shops, restaurants and specialty stores.

Cherrydale Point

As a gateway to points north such as Furman University and Paris Mountain State Park, Cherrydale Point has a number of residential neighborhoods along with an expanding Cherrydale Point Shopping Center. The Center features a multi-screen cinema complex.

Haywood Road Area

More of a retail destination than a residential neighborhood, Haywood Road Area is home to Haywood Mall, with five anchor stores and 150 specialty retailers. It is the largest mall in South Carolina. The area has also attracted a number of hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues.

Pelham Road Area

Focused largely toward business and leisure travelers because of its location near Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, the Pelham Road Area is also somewhat close to downtown Greenville but has its own collection of shops, restaurants and hotels. The area is convenient for people visiting the Michelin and BMW headquarters buildings.

Roper Mountain Road Area

With a reputation as ideal for younger families, Roper Mountain Road Area has attractions like Roper Mountain Science Center, Daniel Observatory, a living history farm and butterfly garden. For moms and dads looking for easy access to work, the area is near major interstates.

Village of West Greenville

Often nicknamed the “SoHo of Greenville,” Village of West Greenville has experienced a recent resurgence and now features more than 65 businesses. Housing options include lofts and interesting apartment dwellings, and the Village is a favorite place for tourists to shop and eat, especially during the warm-weather months.

West End Historic District

Dating back to the 1830s and Greenville’s dynamic textile industry is the West End Historic District, which today features a vibrant arts and entertainment area along with interesting shops and highly rated independent restaurants.
