Compared to nearby like Atlanta and Nashville – with costs of living 8.4% and 10% higher, respectively – this makes the region an affordable place for individuals and families to call home.

As a burgeoning hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, the region supports business development through several key players that include chambers of commerce, city government, startup accelerators and niche networking groups. Specifically, the Greater Chattanooga Economic Partnership and Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce work to build awareness of the area’s business opportunities and promote regional economic growth. And in 2025, the City of Chattanooga will open its new Business Resource Center, a comprehensive hub designed to support local entrepreneurs at every stage.
