Teatime: Afternoon Tea and Sweet Sips in Williamson County

Afternoon tea is simply delightful. At Fork of the South in The Factory at Franklin, enjoy a classic English afternoon tea, which blends English delights with Southern favorites and hospitality. Sip your tea while indulging in housemade pastries, pimento cheese and cucumber tea sandwiches and sweets like pecan pie. While you’re there, browse its general store or enjoy a dreamy milkshake.

In downtown Franklin, Triple Crown Bakery charms with gourmet pastries, cakes, cookies and tea. Guests receive a teapot filled with their tea of choice, along with cream, sugar and a warm cookie. If you prefer a different sip, Triple Crown also offers coffee and hot chocolate. Reservations aren’t required, so grab your friends or kiddos and head on over.

Glass Sparrow in Franklin hosts high tea from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays inside Painted Tree Boutiques. Indulge in a pot of fancy tea, finger sandwiches, savory snacks and sweets. In Spring Hill, head to The Southern Baking Co. for high tea in The Southern Tea Room. Guests will also enjoy an assortment of scones, finger sandwiches and pastries.

Something Stronger: Speakeasies and Craft Cocktails in Williamson County, TN

Check out one of the swanky speakeasy bars. Amendment XVIII Cocktail Club in Franklin serves craft cocktails in a cozy lounge adorned with Prohibition-era decor. Enjoy a classic cocktail or specialty libation, a glass of wine, craft beer or choose from the vast spirits collection. Come for live jazz or the weekly Songwriter Night. Look for the Frankenstein switch in the alley near Mellow Mushroom to turn on the green light for entry.

Drive a little farther out of town to The Tornado Room in Leiper’s Fork. Located in the basement of The Country Boy Restaurant, this storm shelter-turned-intimate-bar stuns with craft cocktails, small plates and live music. On warm, sunny evenings, take advantage of the backyard space and sip alfresco.
