There's no doubt that Kalamazoo, MI, is a beer town. It's got great local pubs and a batch of micro-breweries churning out beers that will keep you coming back. Some of the best known beer places here are:

Kalamazoo's first brewpub is the Olde Peninsula Brewpub & Restaurant, which opened in 1996. It's a three-story building where beers are brewed on site and served with steaks, fish and chips, pot roast, and several appetizers. The craft brewed beers are the big draw and drinkers can purchase a 5-ounce taste, or go for the gusto and order a liter mug.

Bell's Brewery creates 20 beers for distribution and a handful of small-batch brews for its pub. It started in 1985 with a 15-gallon soup kettle and has grown to a company that employs more than 100 people in 18 states. Their pub, Eccentric Cafe, is located in downtown Kalamazoo. It hosts live music and is the only place to get some of the beers Bell's Brewery makes.
