When most people visit South Carolina, they typically hit the coast for the beaches of Hilton Head Island or historic Charleston without realizing that Greenville is just a few hours away with its own thriving food scene, beautiful parks and lively downtown Main Street.
You could spend a week here and still not uncover all it has to offer, but a summer weekend is more than enough to fall for its down-to-earth culture and inviting neighborhoods.

Friday Afternoon and Evening
Checking In and Downtown Main Street Fridays
It’s not hard to find a comfortable place to stay downtown where you’ll be within walking distance from the heart of the city’s finest. From the Grand Bohemian Lodge to any hotels along the river, you’ll be steps away from the best restaurants, Falls Park and local shops.
Once you’ve checked into your stay of choice and relaxed from traveling, kick off the weekend with Greenville Heritage Main Street Fridays for free live music, food trucks and drinks starting at 5:30 pm until 9:30 pm.
Sunset Views at Liberty Bridge and Nightcaps at Falls Park
After you’ve enjoyed the entertainment (maybe even a little dancing!), stroll south on Main Street until you see Liberty Bridge at Falls Park on the Reedy. As one of Greenville’s main attractions, the bridge sits high above the river so you can’t miss it. Take in the nighttime views and then wander next door into Between the Trees for a bite at the bar or sip a nightcap around the fire pit outside.
If you feel like topping off the first evening with something sweet, Carmella’s Cafe & Dessert Bar is a short walk across the way and stays open until midnight, serving shakes, gelato and desserts.
Saturday Morning
Coffee Cult-Favorites and the TD Saturday Market
Start Saturday off the right way with a coffee or tea from Methodical. Pro tip: Saturday mornings are busy at this popular coffee shop, so place a mobile order to skip the line and hit the TD Saturday Market early. From 8:00 am until noon, the market stretches two blocks down Main Street with vendors selling seasonal produce, flower bouquets and high-quality crafts.

Biking the Swamp Rabbit Trail to The Commons
After you’ve stocked up on fresh produce and listened to more live music, drop your market finds off at the hotel and head out for lunch. Walk or rent a bike and hit the Swamp Rabbit Trail down to The Commons, where you’ll find a Food Hall of diverse restaurants, cold brews (the alcohol and coffee kind), along with outdoor seating right off the trail.
Get Outside in Greenville
Once you’re there, you’ll find there’s a wide variety of things to do around this part of town. You could hit Southernside Brewing Co. for a beverage, adventure to PKL Park for a game of pickleball, stroll around Unity Park or cruise miles of the Swamp Rabbit Trail by bike. Choose your own adventure and lean into the play side of Greenville’s live-work-play culture.
Saturday Evening
For dinner, you’ll want to make a reservation ahead of your trip, as the city’s food scene is known for filling up fast on weekends. However, downtown isn’t the only place to have a memorable culinary experience.

Venture a few miles down to The Village of West Greenville for dinner at The Anchorage. This casual neighborhood spot was awarded a 2025 MICHELIN Guide American South Recommended Restaurant for its savory small plates, wine dinners and four-course Tasting Table.
An Immersive Alice in Wonderland Experience at The Rabbit Hole
After dinner, you’ll want to take a short stroll down to The Rabbit Hole for a nightcap and Alice in Wonderland cocktail experience. Staying on theme with the award-winning evening, don’t leave without using (or peeking into) their bathroom, which has been widely recognized for its floor-to-ceiling Wonderland design and soundscape. Sunday Morning into Afternoon
Stecca Bread at Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery
In the name of saving the best for last, stopping by the city’s crown jewel before heading home is a Greenville must. Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery is every local and visitor’s favorite spot. Shop for fresh produce and organic products to stock up on snacks for the trip home, and enjoy breakfast or lunch at the cafe. Let the staff know it’s your first time visiting and you’ll receive a complimentary loaf of their famous stecca bread. It’s a souvenir so good it might be gone before you even leave the parking lot.
Food Halls and Shopping in the West End
If you’re feeling adventurous and not quite ready to leave, top off the weekend with window shopping on the West End and grabbing a bite at Gather GVL, a curated food hall of vendors in shipping containers. It’s not what you think… it’s better.
