One of the state’s best parks is just over an hour away and is worth day trips: Petit Jean visitors can hike the scenic trails, feel the cool mist of a 95-foot-tall waterfall, and descend into a cave to discover ancient pictographs. For a peaceful day in nature close to home, visit the Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center along the Arkansas River.
