#5. Carson City

Located at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, Carson City, Nev., provides residents with good access to amazing natural amenities, including Lake Tahoe, which is just 20 minutes away. Ross Gold Park includes a well-stocked fishing pond, and the city’s shooting range features a 40-position rifle range and a 20-station pistol range.

While casino gaming establishments appeal to many tourists, the city’s main cultural draws include the Nevada State Museum and the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Carson City hosts an eclectic array of events from musical theater productions and a summer jazz festival to author readings and book signings.
