#100. St. Louis, MO

St. Louis is an evolving city that clinched the #100 spot on our Top 100 Best Places to Live list thanks to affordability, job opportunities and the sense of pride residents here take in their city. In every corner of the city, you’ll find creative, driven people actively working to make St. Louis the best city it can be — and their hard work is paying off.

In recent years, St. Louis has carved out a reputation as a tech hotspot, drawing tech companies, remote workers and entrepreneurs eager to join (and grow) the innovative, creative tech scene here.

With a revitalized downtown, beloved sports teams, an abundance of free attractions and amazing restaurants that are drawing national attention, St. Louis is definitely worth a second look.

Local Obsession: All things sports. STL loves their Blues and Cardinals.

Climate Described in 6 Words Or Less: Unpredictable, but almost always humid.

Local Dream Job: Brewmaster. St. Louis is also a beer-drinking town, with some of the best craft breweries in the nation and a beer scene that’s growing and improving every day.

Quintessential Meal: Imo’s pizza and toasted ravioli

Favorite Weekend Activity: Hanging out at Forest Park’s Art Hill in the winter for sledding, or in the summer for picnics.

After-Work Meetup Spot: Planter’s House is the perfect happy hour spot, serving up some of the best cocktails in the city and a beautiful atmosphere.

Best Brewery: There are so many options, but a couple of our favorites are Schlafly and Urban Chestnut.

Beloved Bookstore: Left Bank Books. They have author signings and events, a great selection and a helpful staff.

Free Way to Have Fun: St. Louis has so many free attractions it earned a spot on Livability’s list of The U.S. Cities With the Most Freebies. Check out the zoo, art museum or science center, along with frequent musical events and amazing outdoor spaces — all without opening your wallet.

Hidden Gem: Jay’s International Food Company is a seriously awesome grocery store where you can find all kinds of unique foods and ingredients.
