Local businesses put their employees first, offering creative perks like on-site or affordable child care and the ability to bring your pet into the office. Mars Petcare 

Mars Petcare’s facility in the Ovation development in Cool Springs encourages its 1,000 employees to bring their pets to work and provides space for them. But while many companies let staff bring their dogs to work, Mars Petcare takes it to a whole new level. 

In fact, the company’s two buildings are labeled ‘C’ and ‘D,’ representing cats and dogs. There is a dog park, pups can go to on-site doggy day care, and each desk has space for a dog bed. At Mars, the pet-friendly policy isn’t just about bringing joy to their employees, it is integral with its many brands of pet food.

Community Child Care Center 

When looking for jobs in Williamson County, an important consideration is often affordable child care. A great option for parents seeking child care is Community Child Care Center. 

For the past 40 years, the nonprofit has offered residents of Williamson County affordable child care with the idea that the extra funds can be used to improve families’ quality of life. 

“There was a great need here for affordable, quality day care, and we offer the lowest price in the area, especially in Williamson County,” says Tara Blue, executive director at Community Child Care. 

“I would say we have been very fortunate to be able to offer great, very affordable care even in the midst of gentrification going on around us.” 

Beyond that, Community Child Care works with local families who need assistance with employment, parenting resources, food, renting and more, thanks to a partnership with the United Way, donations and grant funding. 

Olive & Ark 

At Olive & Ark, a boutique coworking space with child care, parents who work from home, work remotely or are self-employed can get the job done while their children are being taken care of on-site. It’s not a day care – it offers care from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – for kids ages 12 weeks to 5 years old while their parents use the workspace.

Membership includes Wi-Fi and workplace amenities, a variety of seating and meeting configurations, a kitchen and lounge stocked with organic snacks, fitness and personal development classes, and – best of all – the time to work and be guilt- and distraction-free.
