Although it’s located just minutes from Nashville, TN and a host of big city attractions, Spring Hill offers loads of entertainment options to residents and visitors. Here’s a look at some of the best things to do in Spring Hill.

Take a Walk

Sidewalks, walking trails and multiuse paths weave across Spring Hill, linking neighborhoods with parks, schools and shopping areas. In 2015 alone, the city completed nearly one-mile of pedestrian walkways. The city hosts an annual Art Walk that is combined with a live music event at Harvey Park. The walk starts at the Spring Hill Arts Center and extends down Main Street, where walkers will encounter several works of art. This event is held in late summer.

See a Show

The Spring Hill House Concert Series gives people a chance to attend an intimate performance with some of Music City’s most talented singers and songwriters. A variety of performers take the stage throughout the year.  Spring Hill Pickin in the Park music series gives musicians a chance to showcase their latest songs and skills and residents the opportunity to listen to live music at Harvey Park. The series starts in May and runs through September. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on. Then there’s Gary’s Place, a family-friendly bar with pool tables that serves up live music several nights each month. Gary’s books a variety of acts, but most are on the Southern side of the spectrum.

Come Hungry

Jack of Hearts BBQ is drawing food lovers from across the region to Spring Hill, for pulled pork, smoked turkey and ribs. Located on Main Street, Jack of Hearts is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The restaurant also offers catering services.  Another popular place to eat in Spring Hill is Mac’s Grub Shack, which serves signature pizzas, hand crafted burgers and fresh-made sandwiches. Owned by a father and son team, Mac’s also offers a family atmosphere and friendly service.

Get Festive

Residents of Spring Hill go hog wild for the annual Country Ham Festival held each autumn. Admission to the festival is free. Activities include listening to live music, games and competitions, arts and crafts, hog calling, monster truck rides and of course succulent southern food. Held on the grounds of the Tennessee Children’s Home, the festival includes a kids’ zone with inflatables, craft stations and games.

Here’s a look at other festivals and events in Spring Hill:

Spring Hill Pay it Forward Festival – For the past nine years, this annual all-day event has been presented bySpringHillFresh.com, a pro-local community and business media source that encourages the community to “Live forward. Give forward. Pay it Forward.” It’s one of Spring Hill’s biggest events of the year, providing an entertaining summer venue that elevates city pride and connectedness among residents, local businesses, and visitors by fostering a creative and meaningful environment to build stronger community bonds.

With the local GM facility as the festival’s title sponsor, as well as sponsorship by the City of Spring Hill, the event has grown larger each year on the lakeside campus of the Tennessee Children’s Home. Activities include fishing, football, soccer, kickball, health screenings, nutrition education and demonstrations, sports clinics, baseball, sack races, relay races, a food court, top-notch live music and entertainment, and much more.

Spring Hill Memorial Day Celebration – This event debuted in May 2015 with the grand opening of Port Royal Park, now Spring Hill’s largest park, coinciding with a lively Memorial Day Celebration, which will continue as an annual event. The event offers both a touching Memorial Day service honoring our veterans who died in service to their country in the park’s Veterans Plaza, and a fun-filled day of activities, inflatables and rides for the kids, and food trucks. It’s also the official day we annually open the popular splash pad at Port Royal Park.

Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony – Spring Hill annually rings in the holiday season in early December with the official lighting of the city Christmas tree at Port Royal Park. Enjoy a crisp evening in Veterans Plaza, while drinking hot chocolate and listening to carolers and special musical guests, as the tree lights are turned on for the first time.

Spring Hill Christmas Parade – For nearly a decade, Spring Hill has been hosting a traditional Christmas parade that judges decorated floats and draws a festive crowd. The parade runs along Main Street through the old part of town and ends at Evans Park
