Casper, WY, Schools and Colleges Power Workforce Growth

Casper, WY, schools, colleges and universities are the cornerstone of the region’s workforce development efforts, offering diverse academic programs, career-focused training, and strong partnerships with local industries to prepare students for in-demand jobs. 

Under the leadership of President Brandon Kosine, Casper College is cementing its commitment to workforce readiness by expanding program offerings and fostering innovative collaborations with employers in the region. 

Meanwhile, the Natrona County School District, led by Superintendent Angela Hensley, is prioritizing career and technical education, ensuring students graduate with the tools to succeed. 

A Catalyst for Success 

Hensley was named superintendent in 2024 after serving as associate superintendent. She says she is grateful to be part of a team that believes in education as “a beacon of hope, a catalyst for success and a source of endless possibilities for greatness.” 

The district offers a variety of programs designed to meet diverse student needs, including advanced placement courses, dual enrollment opportunities, and robust career and technical education (CTE) pathways. These opportunities allow students to explore fields, such as health care, engineering, agriculture, business and technology. 

“We continue to focus on career-aligned courses and certifications that pair high academic expectations with hands-on learning, preparing interested students for in-demand careers,” Hensley says. “We are also continuing to grow our partnerships with businesses and community organizations that offer internships, mentorships, and real-world experiences to help students discover their passions and build essential skills.” 

A Home-Grown Talent 

Hensley herself is a product of Natrona County School District and says what she enjoys most about her role and the Casper community is witnessing the growth and success of staff and students. 

“Natrona County has shaped who I am, and I am grateful every day to give back to the community that has given so much to me. We are incredibly fortunate to have a community that values education and creates many opportunities for our students to learn, grow and thrive,” she says. “What brings me the greatest joy is witnessing the moments of excellence that happen across our district every single day. Those everyday, powerful moments remind me why this work matters and why I’m so proud to be part of the Natrona County School District and the Casper community.” 

Strategic Leadership 

Kosine was appointed the ninth president of Casper College in 2025. Before his appointment, he served for more than 10 years at the college, as a psychology instructor, a dean and vice president. He says his background in psychology and counseling, along with his experience in administration, help him to be a strategic and effective leader. 

“My vision for Casper College is to always provide the highest quality education for our students and also be responsive to not only the business and industry needs of Natrona County, but also be the hub of knowledge, culture and lifelong learning for our residents,” he says. “At the end of my tenure as president, I hope to have higher enrollment, higher retention of our students, and develop a national reputation as an institution with high student success and outcomes.” 

The college offers more than 140 degree and certificate programs and plays a key role in preparing students for local, in-demand jobs. The college provides hands-on education in fields such as health care, energy, business and skilled trades, closely aligning its curriculum with the needs of the region’s economy. 

Kosine says the college’s industry advisory groups ensure the curriculum and training are designed to meet workforce demands in Casper. 

Community Connections 

“As a part of my position, I sit on the board of Advance Casper, so I am also up to date on new industries that are looking at Casper and Natrona County. This allows me to meet the leaders and discuss how Casper College can help build their workforce or be a resource for them and their families,” Kosine says. 

The college is able to make adjustments each year that are responsive to the feedback of its stakeholders, he says. This also helps when the college might want to create a new partnership or collaboration that will enhance the educational experience of its students. 

Like Hensley, Kosine is a Wyoming native and says the support of the community makes the region attractive to professionals. 

“The best part of living in Casper is the people. Folks here are down-to-earth, still care about their neighbor and the community, and truly support local businesses. My partner and I plan to finish our careers here in Casper, and then stay when we retire,” he says.
