Where is Nampa? 

Located in the southwestern part of Idaho, Nampa is right next to Boise, the state’s capital. Nampa is also in close proximity to Mountain Home Air Force Base, which houses approximately 8,600 military, civilian and family members. Nampa itself serves as the primary gateway to Idaho Wine Country and its 65-plus wineries and vineyards. 

How would you describe the housing market? 

There’s a good amount of variety in options and offerings in the Nampa region housing market, where the average home value is slightly over $400,000 (Zillow, February 2026). Suburban homes and new builds are available, but some residents are gravitating toward luxury apartments like The Logan and its resort-style amenities. 

Are there any colleges or universities in Nampa? 

There are two major education establishments in Nampa: Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) and a campus of the College of Western Idaho (CWI). NNU is a private Christian liberal arts university. CWI, on the other hand, is a two-year community college with campuses in Boise and Nampa. With over 100 programs and affordable tuition, it’s a great option for folks looking to get associate degrees, technical certificates and workforce training. Additionally, Boise State University is located just a short drive away in the state’s capital, offering a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs. 

What are the major health care providers? 

The two major health care providers in the Nampa region are St. Luke’s Nampa Medical Center and Saint Alphonsus Medical Center. St. Luke’s is an 87-bed facility with an emergency department, a neonatal intensive care unit, and specialties in heart and orthopedic services. Saint Alphonsus has 100 beds, a diagnostic center, six surgical operating suites and an 18-bed intensive care unit. 

What is the must-attend event of the year? 

Without a doubt, the best thing to happen all year round in Nampa is the Snake River Stampede. One of the top 12 professional rodeos in the nation, the Snake River Stampede spans five days and encompasses many events, including the Miss Rodeo Idaho competition, equestrian drill teams and, of course, all the rodeo staples like barrel racing and bull riding. 

Where’s the best place to find local live music? 

Whether you prefer small, laid-back venues or larger, lively audiences, there’s something for everyone in Nampa. Downtown, you’ll find Whiskey River, a fun bar that features a small stage where local and touring artists provide live music often – not to mention other fun events such as open mic nights and karaoke. Conversely, the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater is where you’ll want to go for major concerts and shows. With indoor and outdoor components, there’s plenty of room to go around. 

Where should I go for predinner drinks? 

Residents are spoiled for options when it comes to top-notch spots for good drinks and even better vibes. If cocktails are your preference, you can’t go wrong with the Syringa, which serves coffee by day but cocktails by night. Craving something secret and exciting? Try a speakeasy vibe – The Sick Stag and Craft Lounge are both excellent options that will offer excellent sips and intimate, moody corners. (Craft Lounge is also conveniently located in the same building as Brick 29, a popular dinner spot!) For beer lovers, you should definitely check out Mother Earth Brew Co. and PreFunk Beer Bar.

What’s the food scene like? 

In a word, delicious! There are so many local, small businesses to support. There’s Mesa Tacos and Tequila, an award-winning bar known for its bold flavors on the plate and in the glass. There’s Holy Cow Idaho, serving up hearty American fare in an approachable, down-to-earth atmosphere (be sure to try the tots). For incredible Italian cuisine, there’s Italianesque, where the pasta is made in-house from scratch. Or, pair your night at the Ford Idaho Center with a visit to JaK*s Place Neighborhood Grill, a local favorite just minutes away. 

Is the region family friendly? 

Without a doubt, Nampa is absolutely family friendly. Crime rates are low, thanks to a visible and responsive police force. The schools are top-notch, with some of the best-ranked schools in the state. There’s also plenty to do with your family, including active centers like the Sky Zone Trampoline Park, Labyrinth Escape Games and Rollerdome Skating Rink, not to mention fun events throughout the year such as the Nampa Festival of the Arts and the Canyon County Kids Expo.
