Dignity Health – St. Joseph’s Medical Center
Accolades garnered by St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton include recognition on the lists of the 2023-2024 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals, the Fortune/Merative 100 Top U.S. Hospitals and the Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals in the Nation by Fortune/PINC AI. The 355-bed not-for-profit hospital has served San Joaquin County for more than 100 years, and today the 2,300-employee staff includes nearly 900 physicians.
Dameron Hospital
This 200+ bed community hospital in Stockton now managed by Adventist Health has accumulated many awards and accolades. That includes recognition as a Top Performer for Quality Metrics by The Joint Commission. Blue Shield of California has designated Dameron Hospital as a Blue Distinction Center for bariatric surgery and for knee and hip replacements.
San Joaquin General Hospital
Established in 1857, this 196-bed public teaching hospital in French Camp is the only trauma center serving residents of San Joaquin County. The county’s EMS administrative office and education facility is adjacent to the hospital. San Joaquin General is also a teaching hospital for the University of the Pacific School of Pharmacy.
Adventist Health Lodi Memorial
Lodi Memorial offers a whole-person focus on physical, mental and spiritual healing. It has nearly 30 departments, including cancer services, cardiology, diabetes services, orthopedics, rehabilitation and weight management, along with home care, senior care and patient access to virtual health.
Sutter Health
A number of facilities are under the Sutter Health umbrella, including the multioffice Stockton Medical Plaza I and Stockton Medical Plaza II. The two combined plazas are equipped with an imaging center, full lab services, an urgent care center and a surgery center. Sutter’s Tracy campus was the first smaller hospital in the health care system to implement robotic surgery.
Doctors Hospital of Manteca
Serving the community since 1962, this 73-bed facility in Manteca is part of Tenet Healthcare and offers a variety of advanced medical care and treatment programs. Doctors Hospital is equipped with an intensive care unit and provides hip and knee surgeries, back pain treatment, women’s health care and weight-loss surgery.
Veteran Health Care in San Joaquin County
U.S. military veterans throughout San Joaquin County don’t need to make a long 100-mile round-trip drive to Palo Alto anymore to receive outpatient medical care services.
The new five-story Stockton VA Clinic opened in 2023 in the unincorporated community of French Camp, located about 5 miles south of Stockton. The 147,000-square-foot clinic offers a long list of medical services that doctors and technicians can provide to meet the needs of veterans throughout the region.
Some of the outpatient services provided at Stockton VA Clinic include primary care, dental, hearing aids, eye care, vaccines, physical therapy and occupational therapy. Other specialized services include prosthetics, mental health care, smoking and tobacco cessation, addiction and substance abuse treatment, and care for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Also on-site is a pharmacy.
The U.S. Census Bureau estimates there are nearly 28,000 veterans living in San Joaquin County.
