8 Colleges and Universities in Advantage Valley, WV

Top institutions and universities help to train the Advantage Valley region’s present and future workforces. 

1. BridgeValley Career & Technical College

The college offers postsecondary and high school programs in fields such as business, computers and mechatronics, as well as the Toyota Advanced Manufacturing Technician Work Sponsorship Program.

2. Marshall University

The main campus is in Huntington, along with satellite campuses in South CharlestonPoint Pleasant and Teays Valley. The university has undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in many career fields, from aviation maintenance to biomedical engineering.

3. Mountwest Community & Technical College

Meeting the needs of today’s employers is the mission at Mountwest. Based in Huntington, the college offers several leading-edge programs, including drone technology, engineering, machinist/CNC technology, mobile app development, system networking and welding.

4. Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Manufacturing

The institute works with many area companies to provide skills training programs. Top-notch high-tech equipment and machinery are available to students at both the Huntington and South Charleston campuses.

5. Southern West Virginia Community & Technical College

The college has locations in Boone and Lincoln counties, and workforce programs are available to individuals and companies in fields such as agriculture, electromechanical instrumentation, industrial technology, IT and mechatronics.

6. University of Charleston

As the fastest-growing private university in West Virginia, with its main campus in Charleston, the University of Charleston features two-year, four-year and graduate programs in several arts and sciences subjects, as well as business administration and health care.

7. West Virginia State University

Just outside the city of Charleston is West Virginia State University, founded in 1891 as a historically Black institution, with programs that include biology, business and management, chemical engineering, chemistry and computer science.

8. West Virginia University

West Virginia University in Morgantown is known for its many engineering disciplines and programs in agribusiness and information systems.
