#9. Peachtree City

Voters in Peachtree City, Ga., and surrounding Fayette County were among the minority in supporting Republican candidate Guy Millner for U.S. Senate during the 1996 election. Peachtree City residents have largely backed conservative candidates in all levels of government since 1976, the last time a Democratic presidential candidate won the popular vote here. That candidate was Georgia’s own Jimmy Carter.

Lynn Westmoreland represents the state’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes Peachtree City. Westmoreland is one of the farthest right leaning Republicans according to analysis by GovTrack. As a member of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, Westmoreland continues to examine the state department about attacks on a U.S. embassy. Westmoreland strongly supports a reduction in federal spending, increasing domestic production of oil, gas and coal, and letting local governments take the lead on education reform.
