#9. Oregon
Although most voters in Oregon, Ohio, cast ballots for Democrats, the majority of residents here view themselves as moderates when it comes to politics. The majority of Ohio’s 16 Congressional Districts are represented by Republicans. On the local level, Oregon Mayor Mike Seferian, an independent, is serving his second term in office.
The majority of Oregon falls within the state’s 9th Congressional District, which is represented by Marcy Kaptur, a Democrat. Just south of the city limits is Ohio’s 5th District, which is represented by Republican Robert E. Latta. GovTrack lists Kaptur as a rank-and-file Democrat, while calling Latta a far-right Republican. Kaptur, the senior-most woman in the U.S. House of Representatives, was first elected in 1982.
