Situated on the Vermont-New Hampshire state line along the west bank of the Connecticut River, Brattleboro, Vt., has become a destination for art enthusiasts. Three colleges and an excellent public school system provide a range of educational options. Brattleboro’s many historic homes and buildings add to its overall charm. Events like the annual Strolling of the Heifers helped land Brattleboro on our Best Summer Festivals list. Spacious parks and winter recreation keep residents active, while the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital keeps them healthy.
