Health-care facilities in Glasgow and Barren County ensure residents have all the options they need to live healthier lives.

Community Medical Care

Community Medical Care is a local charity that assists Barren County’s low-income seniors with prescription medication, prescription glasses and hearing aids. CMC also assists low-income, uninsured working adults by providing primary health care through a residency program at T.J. Samson Community Hospital as well as prescription medication, emergency dental, optometric and hospital care, and specialist consultation. United Way of Southern Kentucky is a strong supporter of CMC, and the charity is also backed by Barren County residents, local government, civic groups and clubs.

T.J. Samson Community Hospital

The opening of the T.J. Health Pavilion in 2013 has given T.J. Samson Community Hospital a whole new dimension, figuratively and literally. The facility has added 126,000 square feet of space for 30 physician offices as well as diagnostic, preventative treatment and educational services. It has also added 65 jobs to the region, as well as an estimated 55 indirect jobs.

T.J. Samson Community Hospital is a 196-bed, acute-care facility that was founded in 1929. The hospital’s specialties include oncology, family medicine, pediatrics and orthopedics; plus it has a cardiac care center, sleep disorders center, and women’s and children’s services.

Glasgow State Nursing Facility

For more than 35 years, Barren County has been home to the Glasgow State Nursing Facility. Founded in 1977, it is a 100-bed long-term care nursing facility for individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities. Some services include laboratory testing, laundry services, daily physician visits and nursing care. The primary sources of admissions for GSNF are other state psychiatric hospitals and the University of Louisville Hospital.

Assisted Living Centers

Senior adults seeking assisted-living residences have options in Glasgow. Highland Ridge offers a variety of apartment sizes and rates for independent seniors. Each private apartment is furnished with a resident’s own furniture and personal keepsakes, and amenities and services include recreation programs, restaurant-style dining and transportation assistance. Hometown Manor is another assisted-living facility with a variety of rooms, amenities and services. Residents pay a flat fee based on room size, not the amount of care needed, and enjoy three home-cooked meals a day, daily activities, and regular laundry and housekeeping.
