Close to Home

West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital (WCCH) in Sulphur has been serving Calcasieu and Cameron parishes since 1953.

“Throughout our history, we’ve grown alongside our community, expanding our services to address the evolving needs of the communities we serve,” says CEO Janie Frugé. “From welcoming new life in our women’s center to providing compassionate home health care for residents, WCCH is here for every stage of life.”

WCCH offers both primary and specialty health care through more than 25 service lines.

“Whether it’s managing chronic conditions, addressing urgent health concerns or delivering advanced specialty care, our team is equipped to provide personalized, patient-centered solutions,” Frugé says. “We understand that access to quality health care close to home is not just a convenience – it’s a necessity. As a community-based hospital, our mission is to ensure that every individual in our region has access to the care they need, no matter where they are.”

Care For All Areas

The hospital has expanded accessibility with its three rural health centers in Vinton, Hackberry and Johnson Bayou, bringing essential services to underserved areas.

Its community health center is a centralized hub for preventive, primary and some specialty care tailored to meet the region’s needs, and its home health agency brings care to the homes of patients who face challenges traveling to a facility.

State-of-the-art diagnostic technology showcases WCCH’s commitment to innovation, and its Dynamic Dimensions Fitness Centers have focused on holistic care for the community for more than 30 years.

“Our commitment to meeting patients where they are demonstrates the power of community-focused health care in fostering healthier, more connected communities,” Frugé says.

Care Evolution

Lake Charles Memorial Health System (LCMHS) boasts three hospitals and more than 50 specialty clinics to meet the needs of the area’s 313,000 residents. Its flagship 314-bed Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is joined by the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for Women, a 54-bed hospital focused on OB-GYN and family surgical services, and Archer Institute, a 42-bed behavioral health hospital. Among the system’s many clinics is Moss Memorial Health Clinic, serving all patients regardless of financial or health insurance status.

Lake Charles Memorial Hospital serves as the only Level 3 trauma center in the region, with specialized areas for trauma and critical care. The emergency department is equipped as a primary access point for individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies, offering compassionate, timely care for those in crisis and helping patients quickly access the support they need in a safe, welcoming environment.

An ongoing investment in robotic-assisted technology means LCMHS offers advanced options for surgeries and procedures in specialties ranging from general surgery, urology, gynecology, neurology, orthopedics, pulmonology and radiation oncology.

“Within the walls of Memorial, babies take their first breath, health is restored, and lives are saved every day,” says Devon Hyde, president and CEO.

“As the needs of our community evolve, so does our health system. Our responses and solutions to this evolution always lead us back to the best quality of care delivered in a compassionate and caring way.”
