Yes, you’re reading that correctly: Alaska. The final American frontier. You might be scratching your head at this because … how much industry can be so far outside of the continental U.S.? But there’s a lot. Anchorage industries include health services, airline services, oil and financial services. Compared to other cities on this list, it’s in the top 5 for small business loans, the top 10 for health care coverage and transportation affordability, and the top 20 for affordable housing. We’ve also named it a Top 100 Best Place to Live, and a Best City for Beer. All-in-all, it’s a bit out of the way, but offers a lot to adventurous entrepreneurs.
