UPDATE: Check out our new 2023 Best Cities to Live in the U.S. list.

#20. Asheville

Known for its influential arts scene, Asheville, N.C., is also a community that features more breweries per capita than any other city in the U.S. Nearly 100 local beers can be sampled in Asheville, which initially captured “Beer City USA” honors in 2009 as well as many years since. It’s not just fun; it’s big business. The hops-growing industry has rapidly expanded to keep up with the brewing demand from locals as well as some new imports: Sierra Nevada and New Belgium Brewing have both opened facilities here. Of all the great beers in this great city, Oyster House Brewing’s Moonstone Stout stands out as the favorite by RateBeer’s reviewers.
