#14. Astoria

The port city of Astoria, Ore., overlooks the Columbia River as it empties into the Pacific Ocean. It’s the site of the annual Fisher Poets Gathering, an event that draws poets, storytellers and artists who come to share tales that honor the fishing industry. Lush forests surround the city, which is considered one of the most humid places in the country. Small brewing operations in Astoria are creating bold beers with massive flavors like the 3-Way IPA, a seasonal favorite from Fort George Brewery.
