#22. Chandler, AZ

From its humble beginnings in 1912, Chandler has grown and flourished, becoming a beloved home for more than 250,000 diverse residents. Today, Chandler has thriving electronics and manufacturing industries, a revitalized downtown district, tons of public art, great schools and more than 60 parks within city limits. Families love living here, since wages are high and there’s a lot to do on the weekends. Whether you love history or golf, there’s a little something for everyone in sunny Chandler.

Top Industries and Employers: Chandler has an impressive 30 Fortune 1000 companies within its bounds, including Intel, Wells Fargo, PayPal and Northrop Grumman.

Best Coffee Shop: Head to Peixoto Coffee Roasters for your daily cup. It has an eclectic, industrial vibe and serves incredible coffee, right downtown.

Best Local Beer/Brewery: San Tan Brewing Co., which makes an other-worldly “galactic” IPA called MoonJuice.

Must-Have Meal: Anything with machaca beef at Serrano’s Mexican Restaurants, which first opened in downtown Chandler in 1979.

Best Co-Working Space: Workunity, a collaborative workspace for sharing ideas and knowledge.

Best Meetup Spot (When Meeting Up Is a Thing Again): Sip some killer craft cocktails in a historic setting at The Ostrich, a basement lounge that once operated as an ostrich feather storage facility after World War I. You’ll find it directly under Crust Chandler, so head upstairs for a pizza afterward.

Creative Hub: You can catch tons of live music, theater, dance, comedy, films and more at the Chandler Center for the Arts.

Favorite Weekend Activity: Catching a show at ImprovMANIA Comedy Club, which offers “unfiltered” improv followed by standup comedy.

Free Way to Have Fun: Dive into culture, history and art at  the Chandler Museum, a 10,000-square-foot facility featuring both locally produced and nationally traveling exhibits, plus nearly 13,000 square feet of outdoor spaces.

Local Dream Job: Chief Fun Officer at Crayola Experience, a 20,000-square-foot facility with hands-on attractions and activities.
